Handicap in golf is a nummerial measure of an amateur golfer’s ability to play golf over the course.
Each organization or national golf association must be responsible for its handicap system.
There are worldwide variety of handicap systems. In any circumstance, the purpose of handicap depends on golfer’s ability. In fact, handicap rules may include the difficulty of the course the golfer is playing on by taking into consideration factors and golfers’ result in stroke play upon each time.
Handicap for men starts from “plus 4” (the best handicap, golfer must add 4 shots in his result after a round) to 28 (the worst handicap: golfer is permitted to subtract 28 from his result)
Handicap for women scores between plus 4 (the best handicap) and 36 (the worst)
In the world, golfers who want to become a professional one must reach level of amateur one. As handicaps are not used in professional golf, one would be consulted to reach handicap 0 before he wants to become a professional golfer. It will be better that he has to try his best in important amateur tournaments to gain much more experiences of competitive pressure.
